Terms of use
Last updated 25/10/2026. These terms apply when you use lathecalculator.co.uk (“the site”), run by Lathe Calculator. By using the site you accept them. If you don’t, please don’t use the site.
1. A free reference tool
The site is free to use, with no account needed. It gives general starting points for workshop jobs. It is not professional engineering advice and doesn’t replace the tooling, material or machine maker’s data, the relevant standard, your drawing, or proper training. Read the disclaimer as well, which forms part of these terms.
2. Example G-code and CNC programs
The G-code generators, the G-code viewer and the G-code reference are for general information. Any code they produce is example code. It is not written or tested for your machine, control, tooling, work holding or job, and controls differ in how they read the same codes.
- You are responsible for checking every line against your control’s manual before you use it.
- Simulate the program, then prove it with a dry run above the work in single block with reduced rapids and feed, before cutting.
- Check units, work offsets, tool length and radius offsets, clearance heights and spindle direction yourself.
- Run times from the viewer are estimates that ignore acceleration and are not a quote.
You use any generated code at your own risk. A crash can damage the machine, tool and work and can injure people. Keep guards closed and stay at the machine with a hand near the feed hold or emergency stop when proving a program.
3. Accuracy
We take care over the figures and test the calculations, but we don’t promise that the site is free of errors, complete, or suitable for a particular job, or that it will always be available. Values marked est. are estimates. If you find a mistake, please tell us.
4. Our liability to you
So far as the law allows, Lathe Calculator is not liable for any loss or damage arising from use of, or reliance on, the site or anything it produces, including generated code. This includes damage to machines, tools or workpieces, scrapped parts, lost profit, lost data, business interruption, or any indirect or consequential loss. Because the site is free, if we are found liable for anything that can lawfully be limited, our total liability is limited to £50.
Nothing in these terms excludes or limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or for any other liability that cannot be excluded or limited under the law of England and Wales, including under the Unfair Contract Terms Act 1977 and the Consumer Rights Act 2015. If you are a consumer, your statutory rights are not affected.
5. Using the content
You may use the results and generated code in your own work, personal or commercial. The site’s text, design and code are © Lathe Calculator; please don’t copy the site wholesale or present it as your own. Brand and trade names are used only to describe products and controls; see trademarks. Third-party code and assets are listed on the licences page.
6. Links and privacy
Links to other sites are for convenience; we aren’t responsible for their content. How we handle data is set out in the privacy notice and cookie notice.
7. Changes and law
We may update these terms; the date at the top shows the latest version. These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. If you live in Scotland or Northern Ireland you may also bring proceedings in your local courts.
